虽然加密货币通过“挖矿”产生，但是存储、买卖和使用代币等，对于新手而言，最开始接触的一定是交易所——一种允许持有者安全买卖加密货币的地方。著名的Binance、Coinbase Exchange等都是交易所。但是，将自己的加密货币存储在交易所并不能确保自己对所有加密货币的绝对拥有权，拥有的只是第三方的IOU（ “I owe You”简写，为借据）而已。 - 软体钱包

硬体钱包是一种能够保护密钥，不将其暴露给任何连到网络的装置，能够独立验证并在屏幕上明确显示钱包正在的内容。与硬体钱包进行互动，用户仍需在电脑或手机上使用钱包应用程式。但该应用程式不管理任何密钥，只是准备交易，然后直接从硬体钱包上签署，或允许建立验证过之新的收款地址，密钥永远不会离开此装置。但是，一些资安专家会选择客制自己的软体钱包，在新且已经移除网络卡的电脑上安装软体软体，但是这一设置过程需要花费大量时间且非常容易出错，资金的存储也非常麻烦，适合长期固定存放的存储。
