目前，电子签名（E-signature）因为数据安全高风险的特性而遭到诟病——若是使用第三方服务商所提供的电子签名服务，许多包含商业机密的文件将会储存在服务商的云端储存器中，随时有泄露和侵犯机密信息的风险。对此，总部位于新加坡的Web3基础设施初创公司EthSign对这个问题提出了解决方案，即利用去中心化的区块链技术，让用户直接通过区块链查找和验证信息。
在今年三月，由红杉资本、红杉资本印度和红杉资本中国的所有三个部门领投，EthSign获得1200万美元的种子轮融资，成为首个让红杉资本三个部门共同投资的初创公司。
EthSign的魅力。EthSign平台由Potter Li和Xin Yan于2019年创立，由Jack X提供电子签名平台。不同于传统电子签名平台所潜藏的数据隐私与安全的隐患，EthSign通过智能合约平台（Smart Contract）、去中心化身份（Decentralised ID）和去中心化储存网络（Decentralised Cloud Storage）等Web3技术，允许用户使用透明化的电子签名服务，安全地访问、编辑和签署任何文件。
目前，该项目的前端为电子协议签名平台，而这其中智能合约平台更能够提供传统电子签名平台所无法提供的服务。它不仅能够作为背书和认证平台、链下资产上链的凭证，还能作为分布式自治公司（Decentralised Autonomous Organization，简称DAO，为一种不受政府影响且拥有公开透明的计算机代码组织结构）和链下世界的交互界面，并且进一步地构建用户的链上身份信用体系。
